Backroad Scarves

Designed to go with the Backroad Hats, and the Backroad Mittens, the Backroad Scarf use slipped stitches and ribbing to create a warm, cushy fabric that is easy to make and works well with variegated, semi-solid, and solid yarns. Pattern includes instructions for two lengths of scarf and a shorter, buttoned cowl, and for three yarn weights: worsted, Aran, and bulky.

Worsted weight:

Finished size: 8.25” wide x 50” (68”, 90”) long / 21cm wide  x 127 (173, 229)cm long

Yarn: Widdershin Woolworks Targhee Worsted (100% Targhee; 200 yd [183m]/3.14 oz [89g]): 3 (3, 4) skeins or 438 yd (600 yds, 789 yds) / 401m (549m, 722m)

Needles: US7/4.5mm

Aran weight:

Finished size: 8” wide x 50” (68”, 90”) long / 20cm wide x 127 (173, 229)cm long

Yarn: Marr Haven Merino Rambouillet Worsted (100% Organic Merino Rambouillet wool; 210 yd [192 m]/4 oz [113 g]): 2 (3, 3) skeins or 349 yds (431 yds, 627 yds)/319m (394m, 573m)

Needles: US8/5.0mm

Bulky weight:

Finished size: 7.5” wide x 50” (68”, 90”) long / 19cm wide x 127 (173, 229)cm long

Yarn: Mountain Meadow Wool Sundance (100% Moun- tain Merino wool; 102 yd [93m]/4 oz [113g]): 3 (4, 5) skeins or 259 yds (348 yds, 460 yds)/237m (318m, 421m)

Needles: US10.75/7.0mm
