Mountain Avenue Shawl

Published in knit.wear Fall/Winter 2016.

A simple lace edging along the lower edges of this bias knit, V-shaped wrap flows into a basketweave lace pattern at the ends. Mountain Avenue Shawl is worked in two pieces: depending on how much space you have for blocking, you can either pick up the stitches for the second half from the initial provisional cast on or work the two halves separately and graft them together at the end. With a simple, 4 row border repeat and a gauge of 15 sts to 4 in/10cm, this generous wrap may be the quick, dramatic piece you’re looking for this winter.

Finished size: 45 in/114cm along top edge of each side, 18 in/46cm wide, 25 in/64cm tall at point of V.

Yarn: Quince & Co. Owl Tweet (50% American wool, 50% alpaca; 120 yds/100m per 1.76 oz/50g) Allagash: 9 skeins

Needles: US9/5.5mm or size needed for correct gauge

Gauge: 15 sts & 22 rows = 4 in/10cm in stockinette stitch
